The parish of St John The Evangelist RC Church, Horsham, is aiming to prove that "Horsham's Got Talent" through a number of special events and exhibits at its Arts & Flower Festival, Thursday 7th – Sunday 10 July 2011.

Central to the Festival will be floral displays in the church based on 'Saintly Stories'. The arrangements will take as their inspiration of the lives and works of Saints from Sussex and beyond.

An Arts & Crafts exhibition in the church hall will feature a rich and diverse display of paintings, sculpture, photography and crafts. Children can help produce an exhibit called 'Living Stones'. Refreshments will be served in the hall each day during the exhibition viewing times, 10.30-6.00pm.

Father Terry Martin, Parish Priest commented: "When we set out to showcase the artistic skills of our parish community for our inaugural Festival two years ago, we were amazed by the many creative gifts we uncovered! Horsham certainly has got talent! This year we're confident we can exceed expectations again. We have encouraged everyone and anyone in the parish to contribute to the Festival in some way – this is not just a celebration of talent, but of community – and we very much look forward to sharing our achievements with the wider Horsham public."

Valentine's Party Success

PDFPrintE-mail

It was the night of the 13th of February when The Filipino Community of Horsham held its Valentine's Party. The party should have started with an open forum, but due to late attendees, the open forum never happened. We cannot blame those who have worked until eight o'clock (8PM) but those who didn't, should have attended a bit earlier. Nevertheless, it is better late than never. We missed some familiar faces for an unknown reason.

While the community were enjoying their shared food, a slideshow of nominees, from president to committee chairs, were presented. This allowed everybody to cast their votes for the next set of officers that will continually uphold our community mission and vision. After eating and casting their votes, majority went to the dance floor to enjoy the music. Some were enjoying their favourite lager, wine and spirit while listening to the loud disco music. Some were busy chatting with their preferred Coca-cola. Half-way the disco celebration, our teenagers prepared a surprise for Roxette Piollo as she was celebrating her 19th birthday on the same night. It was really an enjoying night especially for grown-ups. We were sorry for the kids but hopefully this year you will have a night of your own.

The Resident

This was published in The Resident paper on 13th of August 2010. I haven't read the paper myself but there is a soft copy of this paper on issuu.com. This only proves that gradually our organisation is being recognised. Kudos to The Filipino Community of Horsham!
